Verified Photography

Verified photography is the process of recording the precise position of  a camera and fixed reference points in a view, for use in creating Verified Views, using precision surveying equipment.

All work has been undertaken in accordance with best practice with the Landscape Institute Technical Guidance Note 06/19 (17 September 2019) with additional technical knowledge.

Camera equipment includes:  full frame sensor Canon 5D MKIII with Canon EF Ultrasonic f1.4 50mm and 28mm lenses, Manfrotto 055 ProB Tripod, Manfrotto 300N Panoramic Head, Manfrotto micro sliding plate (landscape format), Manfrotto L Bracket (portrait format) and Manfrotto 338 levelling plate. Total Station GPS survey equipment is used for surveying precise camera and reference point locations.

The technique allows the precise camera position to be correctly transferred to the 3D modelling software to ensure the same camera settings are used. A clear understanding of camera geometry and the scaling requirements of the 3D model renders ensures highly accurate scaled visualisations can be produced, giving clients the comfort of a transparent methodology in accordance with the latest technical guidelines, which has been cross examined at Public Inquiry.
